Quality Improvement Consultant

Cynthia has over 25 years of experience in healthcare information management. She has supported physician participation in Medicare’s Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and its EHR Incentive Program (Meaningful Use) since each program’s creation, in 2007 and 2009 respectively. Cy has been helping physicians use EHR systems to report and improve on Clinical Quality Measures since 2005.

Cynthia is also the Principle in Strategic Systems Solutions (SSS), a New Jersey company. Strategic Systems Solutions has partnered with the EHR Advisory Group to deliver a variety of services including heading up the Transforming Clinical Practice initative (TCPI). TCPI is a CMS program the focuses on helping health care providers thrive in the value-based payment system that exists under the Quality Payment Program.

Cy’s first work experience in healthcare was as a Systems Analyst at Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield. She moved into consulting to health care providers (with an occasional relapse into the payer space) in the mid-1990s. She served as co-chair of the Vendor Testing subgroup of the Workgroup on Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) when WEDI was focused on administrative simplification of the healthcare revenue cycle, and has presented at conferences sponsored by WEDI, the NJ HFMA, and the NJ MGMA.

Cy has a BA in Political Science and an MS in Public Policy Analysis, both from the University of Rochester. She also has an MBA in Management Information Systems from New York University’s Stern School of Business. She is an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and Healthcare Information Management System Society (HIMSS), and is Board-certified by both organizations.
